Former Union cabinet minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday took a dig at the Congress and Samajwadi Party, without naming them, saying that instead of fighting in the election field, the opposition is questioning democracy and creating uproar over public mandate.

The senior BJP leader also said the Congress-Samajwadi party alliance was headed for a massive defeat in the upcoming UP assembly elections.

Talking to reporters at Circuit House in Prayagraj after the recent assembly election results, Naqvi said the BJP's politics of ''inclusive empowerment'' has dented the strongholds of ''power-hungry'' opposition parties and sidelined decades of politics driven by communal polarisation.

''It has delivered a powerful lesson and message that the nation's priority is the country's progress, and not communal polarisation. The country is effectively dismantling and driving out those who engage in communal appeasement,'' he said.

Terming the opposition as unruly ''history-sheeters'' engaged in the ''lynching'' of constitutional institutions and spreading propaganda against democratic values and popular mandate, Naqvi called on them to abandon their ''obsession with denigrating democracy''.

''They must introspect to understand why the public is repeatedly shattering their feudal intoxication and arrogance,'' he said.

Taking a jibe at the Congress, Naqvi said the grand old party's vote-theft allegations are falling flat among the public.

''Their obsession with holding democracy hostage has been demolished in the elections in Bihar, West Bengal and Assam. It is destined to be similarly routed in the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh and other states,'' he said.

''This public mandate is the result of the BJP's commitment to good governance and its reverence for Sanatan values. Bharat (India) is currently experiencing Amrit Kaal of good governance and Sanatan,'' he said.

Referring to the ongoing global crisis linked to the West Asia conflict, Naqvi praised Modi, saying, ''Bharat has been blessed with a stable government under the capable leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has become a troubleshooter amid the global turmoil.''.

''He has handled every crisis effectively, displaying far-sighted leadership with his commitment to decisions with delivery. The government and the society must join hands to become an integral part of the solution to this crisis,'' he said.

Naqvi said the Samajwadi Party and Congress, which have been facing electoral setbacks, are bound to meet the same fate in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

''This time as well, in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, these people are bound to face a rude shock,'' he added.

The BJP leader said the ''double engine governments'' of Modi and Yogi can alone guarantee inclusive empowerment as well as security and dignity of every section of society.

''The BJP is a must for safeguarding Bharat's honour, prosperity and security,'' he said, adding that the party's expansion is ''linked with Bharat's empowerment''.
