Rajasthan BJP president Madan Rathore on Wednesday slammed Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for his remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that he was resorting to inferior language out of political frustration.
''Congress party's declining acceptance among the public has pushed Rahul Gandhi into frustration,'' he said, adding that his remarks against Modi reflected the height of his desperation.
Addressing Congress workers on his visit to Raebareli earlier in the day, Gandhi termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the RSS as ''traitors'' who are ''attacking the Constitution'' every day and who have sold the country's interests to select industrialists.
Such language was unacceptable in a democracy, Rathore said.
He accused the Congress of lowering the standards of political discourse, pointing out that other party leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, too had used objectionable language against Modi in the past.
The state BJP chief said ideological opposition was natural in a democracy, but using derogatory language against political leaders was inappropriate.
''The public has already pushed Congress to the margins because of such behaviour,'' he said, adding that people have rejected Rahul Gandhi's leadership.
Defending the Modi government, Rathore said it had strengthened India's global standing and implemented major initiatives in infrastructure, healthcare, employment and agriculture.
On the fuel and cooking gas availability, Rathore alleged that attempts were being made to create unnecessary panic despite adequate supplies in the country.
