Kerala: Veteran journalist K G Parameswaran Nair dies at 94

Veteran journalist K G Parameswaran Nair died at his residence here on Wednesday following age-related ailments, family sources said.

He was 94.

Nair, who worked with the Malayalam daily Kerala Kaumudi for over 35 years, was widely regarded for his expertise in Legislative Assembly reporting.

Known for bringing depth and analytical rigour to Assembly coverage, the veteran also authored several books, including 'Kerala Niyamasabha Charithravum Dharmavum'.

Nair was also a recipient of several prestigious honours, including the 2021 Swadeshabhimani Award instituted by the state government.

He is survived by his wife and daughters.

Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan condoled Nair's demise and described him as a journalist who understood the ''depth and expanse'' of Legislative Assembly reporting.

''During his three-and-a-half decades at Kerala Kaumudi, he completely transformed the conventional style and nature of Assembly reporting. For newcomers to the Assembly, including me, K G Parameswaran Nair's reports were a reference point,'' Satheesan said in a statement.
