Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday said a grand martyrs' memorial will be built at Nasibpur in Narnaul to showcase before the world the struggle and sacrifices of the Ahirwal region in India's freedom movement.

He said the memorial would help more people learn about the sacrifices made by the martyrs of Ahirwal.

Saini was chairing a meeting here regarding the proposed memorial at Nasibpur, during which a presentation was made before him. The chief minister issued detailed directions on the design, concept, and construction of the project.

The chief minister said the memorial would be developed over more than five acres of land at Nasibpur.

It will feature an open-air theatre with a seating capacity of 500-600 people, provisions for a light-and-sound show, six galleries, an auditorium, an administrative block, and other related infrastructure, he said.

Saini said the pond located within the memorial premises would be restored and developed as an attractive feature.

According to an official statement, Saini said the land of Ahirwal has always served as a protective shield for the nation and that soldiers from the region had made sacrifices not only during the freedom struggle but also in every war fought before and after Independence for the protection of the motherland.

He added that the memorial will display the names of all martyrs from Ahirwal who sacrificed their lives for the nation across different periods of history.
