Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday condemned Rahul Gandhi for his ''traitors'' remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ''extremely shameful'' and said people will give a resounding response to the Congress for its ''politics of hatred''.
This came after Gandhi called Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah ''traitors'' while launching an attack on them on various issues at an event in his Lok Sabha constituency of Raebareli on Wednesday.
Reacting sharply in a post on X in Hindi, Gadkari said, ''Rahul Gandhi's remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi are extremely shameful and unfortunate.''.
It reflects his ''anarchic mindset'', he added.
Gadkari noted that ideological differences are natural in politics. However, the use of such language and terminology by leaders holding constitutional offices is ''highly reprehensible'' in a democracy, he said.
''It constitutes a disrespect towards the sentiments of the citizens,'' Gadkari said.
''The people of this country have delivered a resounding response to this politics of hatred practised by the Congress, and they will continue to do so in the future,'' the BJP leader added.
