CM Reddy announces revised minimum wages for 1.11 crore workers in Telangana

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced that the Telangana government would revise minimum wages and classify workers into four categories based on the recommendations of a Cabinet sub-committee headed by Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Addressing a press conference, Reddy said workers have been divided into four categories: unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled.

The revised minimum wage will take effect on June 1, 2026.

The state has also been divided into three zones: Zone 1 comprises municipal corporations, Zone 2 municipalities, and Zone 3 rural areas.

According to Reddy, in zone 1, the minimum wage for unskilled workers has been increased from Rs 12,750 to Rs 16,000; for semi-skilled workers, from Rs 13,152 to Rs 17,000; for skilled workers, from Rs 13,772 to Rs 18,500; and for highly skilled workers, from Rs 14,607 to Rs 20,000.

''As many as 1.11 crore workers will benefit from this decision, which will come into effect from June 1, 2026. I congratulate the workers on behalf of the Government of Telangana. This is the first major decision taken for workers' welfare since the formation of the state,'' the CM said.

The previous government neglected its responsibility, he claimed.

Encouraging young people to learn foreign languages and upgrade their skills, he said, countries such as Japan and Germany offer abundant job opportunities.
