A delegation from the Telangana State Government Non-Resident Indians Advisory Committee visited Andhra Pradesh on Thursday to study welfare and grievance redressal mechanisms for NRIs and Gulf migrant workers put in place by the CID and other agencies.

Director General of Police (CID), Andhra Pradesh, A Ravishankar said the visit was organised at the behest of the Telangana government to gain first-hand insight into welfare measures, rescue operations, repatriation procedures and support systems for overseas Telugu people and Gulf migrant workers.

''The visit is aimed at understanding the systems adopted by Andhra Pradesh for grievance redressal and implementation of welfare measures for Non-Resident Indians and Gulf migrant workers,'' Ravishankar said in a release.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the offices of the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRT), Overseas Manpower Company Andhra Pradesh Limited (OMCAP), and the NRI Cell of the Andhra Pradesh CID. The delegation also held discussions with Andhra Pradesh Minister for NRI Affairs K Srinivas and other officials on various welfare initiatives.

A total of 14 delegates met Ravishankar and members of the NRI Cell to discuss issues concerning overseas Telugu people and migrant workers.

The delegation was led by Chairman of the Telangana State Government NRI Advisory Committee B M Vinod Kumar and included Vice Chairman Manda Bheem Reddy, among others.

Superintendent of Police, NRI Cell, K V Srinivasa Rao, along with other senior CID officials, participated in the meeting and held interactive discussions with the Telangana delegation.

According to Ravishankar, the meeting strengthened inter-state coordination and facilitated the exchange of best practices in implementing welfare measures for NRIs and migrant workers.
