Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister G Ravi Kumar on Friday accused YSRCP supremo Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of ''promoting'' the MAVIGUN capital corridor theory after his three-capital formula was rejected.
Recently, Jagan proposed MAVIGUN, which includes Machilipatnam, Vijayawada and Guntur, as a capital corridor of the southern state, arguing that it would cost only 10 percent of the mammoth Rs 2 lakh crore needed just for building the basic infrastructure in the greenfield capital city of Amaravati.
''After the rejection of his (Jagan's) three-capital idea, he brought up the strange proposal of MAVIGUN, unable to digest the development in Amaravati,'' said Kumar in press release.
According to the Energy Minister, nobody will believe Jagan's 'inconsistent' statements, which could allegedly harm the interests of the state and its people.
Kumar's comments come in the wake of Jagan's press conference on Thursday, in which the latter also referred to the deaths of his grandfather, father and uncle.
Jagan said doubts remained over the manner in which his father had died but Kumar accused the YSRCP chief of using the issue for ''political mileage''.
Kumar questioned as to why Jagan failed to address these concerns when he was the CM for five years between 2019 and 2024.
Urging Jagan to contribute to the state's development, he goaded him to shun alleged ideas aimed at gaining sympathy among people.
