BJP's goal not just power, but ensuring development reaches last person in society: Nitin Nabin

BJP president Nitin Nabin on Saturday said the party's core objective was not merely to attain political power, but to ensure development and dignity reached the last person in society.

Addressing party workers at the inaugural session of the BJP's Patna Mahanagar Prashikshan Varg, Nabin described the party's journey as one rooted in nationalism, cultural consciousness, service and organisational commitment.

The two-day district-level training camp for BJP workers was inaugurated by Nabin on the occasion of his birthday. The camp is scheduled to feature closed-door sessions by 12 senior BJP leaders.

Nabin said the party's ideological roots lay in the nationalist vision of Syama Prasad Mookerjee and the philosophy of 'integral humanism' propounded by Deendayal Upadhyaya.

''The BJP's core objective is not the attainment of power, but to place national interest above all else and ensure development and dignity reach the last person in society,'' he said.

Referring to the evolution of the party from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, founded in 1951, to what he described as the world's largest political organisation today, Nabin said it had been shaped by the struggle, dedication and sacrifices of party workers.

He claimed that thousands of nationalist workers had gone to jail to protect democracy during the Emergency without compromising on their commitment to national interest.

''The politics of the BJP has always been based on principles,'' he asserted.

Nabin further claimed that under the BJP-led government, India was moving steadily towards development and self-reliance.

He said welfare of the poor, women's empowerment, opportunities for youth, infrastructure expansion, digital transformation and strengthening India's global standing have been priorities for the BJP governments.

Nabin urged party workers to work with the spirit of ''nation first'' and take the BJP's ideology to every section of society to help realise the goal of a developed India.

He also inaugurated an exhibition showcasing the struggle, dedication and sacrifices of party workers who devoted their lives to strengthening the organisation.

The exhibition also highlighted welfare initiatives and developmental works undertaken over the past 12 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with projects implemented by the BJP-led ''double-engine government'' in Bihar.
