Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Sunday visited the famous Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple here and offered prayers.

The chief minister also performed the traditional 'tulabharam' ritual using butter as an offering, according to a post shared by the Guruvayur Devaswom on Facebook.

This was the chief minister's first visit to the temple after assuming office, it said.

Satheesan reached the temple around 7 am and was received by Devaswom chairman A V Gopinath and administrator O B Arun Kumar. The Devaswom chairman welcomed him by presenting a shawl, it said.

Around 71 kg of butter was used for the tulabharam offering, the post said.
