West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is scheduled to hold a meeting with senior officials of West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district on Sunday evening.
Adhikari is slated to meet the district magistrate, sub-divisional officers and the superintendent of police, among others, to review administrative and developmental issues, an official said.
The administrative meeting is likely to begin around 6 pm. Haldia MLA Pradip Bijli said issues related to the industrial town are likely to dominate the discussions.
Ahead of the meeting, the CM is scheduled to visit Nandigram around 4 pm, where a civic reception has been organised in his honour. He is also likely to address the gathering after the event.
The BJP leader contested from both Nandigram and Bhabanipur in south Kolkata in the recent assembly elections, emerging victorious in both seats. Adhikari, however, resigned from the Nandigram assembly seat on May 15, choosing to retain the Bhabanipur constituency.
''Nandigram's son has become the chief minister. It is a matter of immense pride for all of us. And, that is why a felicitation programme has been organised at the Sitananda College ground. People are eagerly waiting to hear the CM's message,'' BJP organisational district general secretary Meghnad Pal said.
Adhikari had visited Nandigram on May 16 and held meetings with party MLAs, district and police officials, and instructed them to expedite pending development works in the district.
