Police here have doubled the reward amount for information on the whereabouts of an 18-month-old girl who went missing from her house two weeks ago, even as search operations are underway to trace the baby, officials said on Sunday.
The toddler went missing around 4.30 pm on May 9 from her house in Khorha Colony.
''Search operations are still underway. We have decided to increase the reward amount from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh for information on her whereabouts,'' Sadar DSP Sanjeev Besra said.
He further said that several police stations in Ranchi are on alert so that immediate action can be taken if any information about the victim emerges.
Analysis of footage from CCTV cameras outside the house showed that the girl did not step out of her house on the day of the incident, police said.
On May 12, body parts of a baby were recovered from an open drain just six feet from the toddler's house during a search operation and were sent for a DNA test.
The report is yet to come, the police officer said.
