Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday announced that the state government will provide land for the construction of a 'dharamshala' named after Maharishi Kashyap in Kaithal.
He also announced that a chowk in Indri will be named after Maharishi Kashyap and his grand statue will be installed there.
In addition, adequate funds will be provided for establishing a Maharishi Kashyap Chair at Kurukshetra University, Saini said while addressing a state-level function organised on the occasion of Maharishi Kashyap Jayanti at his official residence here.
He said that Maharishi Kashyap was a great philanthropist and protector of society. He gave a new direction to society through great scriptures such as the 'Smriti Granth' and 'Kashyap Samhita'.
Highlighting the glorious history of the Kashyap community, he said that the community gave powerful kings such as King Nishad during the Ramayana era.
Saini described the Kashyap community as courageous, brave, hardworking, and self-respecting.
