Tensions Escalate as Israeli Airstrikes Target Hezbollah in Lebanon
An Israeli airstrike in eastern Lebanon's Bekaa Valley killed 12 people amid an intensification of attacks targeting Hezbollah. These heightened tensions occur just days before planned Lebanese-Israeli talks in Washington, aiming for a potential ceasefire. Over a million people in Lebanon have been displaced by the conflict.
In a significant escalation of ongoing hostilities, an Israeli airstrike in eastern Lebanon has resulted in the deaths of 12 individuals, as officially reported by Lebanon's state-run National News Agency on Tuesday.
The deadly strike took place late Monday night in the Bekaa Valley, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's directive for intensified strikes against the Hezbollah militant group throughout Lebanon. While the Israeli military remained silent about this specific strike, it acknowledged targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in the region.
With Lebanese and Israeli military delegations poised for direct talks in Washington, the Lebanese government remains hopeful for negotiations leading to a ceasefire, despite Hezbollah's opposition and continued attacks on Israeli territory.
