Amid swirling rumors of a potential leadership change in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar attended a crucial gathering at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's official residence, 'Kaveri', in Bengaluru. Joining them were key Congress figures, including Priyank Kharge, KJ George, MB Patil, Ramalinga Reddy, and HK Patil, all amid heavy security.
The meeting comes as talks of a leadership switch have been ongoing, with suggestions of Shivakumar's promotion recurring since the Congress government hit the midway mark of its tenure. Recent discussions in the capital with central leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi have fueled beliefs that a shift is imminent, though the party dismisses such claims as speculative.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal refuted the rumors, stating that discussions focused on upcoming Rajya Sabha and Council elections. However, sources reveal that party high command is leaning towards a leadership change, possibly having requested Siddaramaiah to step down. The formal announcement for Rajya Sabha candidates is expected soon.
