In a significant political shift for Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has been touted as the 'future Chief Minister' following Siddaramaiah's resignation. This comes amid a congratulatory banner erected near Shivakumar's residence, signaling the anticipated transition of power within the state's leadership.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has accepted former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation, ending his term and dissolving the Council of Ministers effective immediately. Nevertheless, Siddaramaiah will maintain his role until the new government formation is completed.
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah convened with prominent Congress figures, including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, discussing Karnataka's political future. Deputy CM Shivakumar and party official Randeep Surjewala were present as discussions centered on the new cabinet, Rajya Sabha nominations, and the composition of the incoming government to ensure balanced regional representation.
