Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday a new directive for troops to advance deeper into Lebanon, confronting Hezbollah militants backed by Iran. This move comes despite a ceasefire declared six weeks ago, reflecting growing tensions in the region.

The Lebanese conflict has escalated into a significant international concern, displacing more than 1.2 million Lebanese citizens due to Israeli military strikes and evacuation orders, following Hezbollah attacks. The death toll has surpassed 3,370 according to Lebanese officials, with Israeli casualties reported as well.

In a strategic gain, Israeli forces recently captured the historic Beaufort Castle, offering a vital vantage point over southern Lebanon. This development underscores Israel's intent to expand its operational control in Lebanon, as both countries navigate U.S.-facilitated peace discussions.
