General NS Raja Subramani, the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), along with his wife, Mahalakshmi Subramani, paid a courtesy visit to President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This visit was marked by a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan highlighting the significance of the occasion.
On the day of his appointment, Subramani received a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the South Block lawns in the national capital. Expressing his gratitude, he emphasized his dedication to the security of the nation and highlighted joint collaboration among the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and other strategic institutions as crucial to national resilience.
Appointed on May 9, General Subramani outlined his primary goals of transforming the armed forces towards greater jointness and synergy, alongside prioritizing indigenous development of weapons systems under the Atma Nirbharta initiative. His extensive military background includes roles such as Military Adviser at the National Security Council Secretariat and Vice Chief of the Army Staff.
