Britain said on Wednesday it was in regular talks the United States and was taking action to tackle forced labour in domestic and global supply chains, after Washington proposed new tariffs on imports over alleged failures to curb the practice.
"We're tackling forced labour in the UK and in global supply chains to ensure UK businesses are not complicit in forced labour and human rights violations," a government spokesperson said.
"We continue to engage regularly with the US Administration as part of our negotiations, and have made clear the actions we're taking," the spokesperson said, adding that preferential access for UK businesses under existing arrangements remained in place.
