In a tragic turn of events in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district, two individuals were fatally struck by lightning during early morning showers, officials reported.

The district magistrate, Neha Sharma, specified that the incidents took place in Sadar tehsil area. Kunal Sharma, a 20-year-old resident of Dattnagar Bisen, was fetching water from a hand pump when lightning struck him. Despite swift medical attention, he was pronounced dead at Gonda Medical College.

In a separate incident, 46-year-old Ramdev Yadav from Qazidevar village also succumbed to a lightning strike while outside in the rain. Authorities announced that ex gratia compensation would be provided to the bereaved families in accordance with government guidelines.
