Heavy rainfall across Jharkhand on Thursday resulted in significant destruction, claiming the lives of at least four residents. Among the deceased are two schoolboys and a 10-year-old girl, while another person remains missing near a waterfall.
The relentless downpour caused substantial infrastructural damage in various districts. Reports detailed the collapse of houses, bridges, and walls, although no additional casualties were recorded from these incidents. The downpour also caused several rivers to swell, prompting the state government to deploy emergency response teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), to assist in rescue operations.
Authorities have warned residents in low-lying areas to stay vigilant, and schools in multiple districts have been closed. With a red alert issued for extremely heavy rainfall, local officials are striving to mitigate further impacts, prioritizing public safety and preparedness.
