The accident occurred on Thursday at the Bow Glacier Falls within Banff National Park. The lush natural site, 225 km northwest of Calgary, draws significant summer visitor numbers. In a joint announcement, both the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Parks Canada reported the recovery of a second body early Friday; the first was identified as a 70-year-old Calgary woman.
No additional individuals have been reported missing. Witness and local hiker Niclas Brundell recounted the event, describing an initial trickle of small rocks that quickly escalated into the collapse of an entire mountain shelf. "We kept sprinting and couldn't see the people behind us anymore because they were engulfed in a cloud of rock," he told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. Adding to the tragedy, Andy Dragt from a local hiking club disclosed that one of their members perished in the rockfall among 10 members present, withholding further details.
