Amidst rising floodwaters, a man went missing from Baliapal block in the Balasore district after being swept away. The young man's disappearance occurred Saturday as the water level of the Subarnarekha river surged, trapping over 50 villages.
Officials in Odisha launched extensive rescue operations as water from Jharkhand's Chandil Dam inundated the area. Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi condemned the dam authorities for their alleged negligence, labeling it a 'criminal misconduct.' Efforts to alleviate the situation involved deploying multiple rescue teams, including ODRAF and NDRF.
Local administration remains hopeful as the Subarnarekha's water recedes below the danger level. Meanwhile, displaced individuals sought refuge on river embankments under makeshift shelters, while health workers distributed essential aid amid logistical challenges posed by submerged roads.
