NASA has announced the Axiom-4 mission, involving Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, for a revised launch date of June 25. The mission is set to take off from Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, aboard the Falcon 9 rocket at 12:01 pm IST.
This mission heralds India's return to space collaboration, joining forces with Hungary and Poland. Commander Peggy Whitson will lead the international team, with Shukla as mission pilot. Initial launch dates faced setbacks due to technical snags, including a liquid oxygen leak and ageing Russian module issues at the International Space Station (ISS).
The planned liftoff has been rescheduled multiple times, initially targeting May 29 and subsequently June 8, June 10, June 11, June 19, and June 22. The crew will finally embark on the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft aimed for a docking with the ISS, expected around 7 am (4:30 pm IST) on June 26, ensuring another milestone in international space collaboration.
