A group of tourists from Maharashtra finds themselves stranded at Yamunotri, a significant Char Dham site in Uttarakhand, following a massive landslide triggered by a cloudburst. The Maharashtra government, led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, is actively coordinating with Uttarakhand authorities to facilitate the safe rescue and relocation of the affected pilgrims.
Deputy CM Shinde mentioned that he has personally communicated with some of the impacted tourists and confirmed that rescue operations are underway. Although the exact number of stranded tourists remains undisclosed, the priority is to transport them to safety in Rishikesh once they are rescued.
The landslide disrupted the pilgrim route on Monday, with key highways to the Yamunotri temple blocked. However, Uttarkashi District Magistrate Prashant Arya assured that road restoration efforts have accelerated following normal rainfall. He confirmed that all pilgrims are safe with sufficient provisions and medical assistance at their disposal.
