In a recent alert, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted significant rainfall in south Bengal from July 24 to 28, as a low-pressure system develops over the north Bay of Bengal.

According to the IMD, regions in the sub-Himalayan districts will also experience heavy downpour from July 25 to 28.

Notably affected areas include North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Bankura, and Purulia, alongside isolated severe showers anticipated in other parts of south Bengal. Meanwhile, Kolkata is projected to witness heavy rains on July 25. Fishermen are urged to avoid these waters due to impending squally weather and surface winds reaching up to 55 kmph between July 24 and 27.
