Karnataka Introduces Urban Town Planning Course

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has announced a forward-thinking initiative by proposing an undergraduate course in urban town planning. This course is to be introduced at the Government Sri Krishnarajendra Silver Jubilee Technological Institute under Visvesvaraya Technological University.

The minister emphasized the need for this program in light of Karnataka's growing focus on sustainable urban development. By equipping a new generation of professionals with the necessary skills, the state aims to enhance its capacity for effective city planning and development.

In a statement shared on 'X', Shivakumar underlined the strategic importance of integrating planning, policy, and community interests to build sustainable urban spaces. The initiative also positions Karnataka as a hub for urban planning expertise, crucial for shaping future cities.
