The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain across most parts of West Bengal, attributing it to a potent monsoon flow. On Monday, the IMD predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching up to 40 kmph for some southern regions.

Particular districts, including Paschim Bardhaman and Birbhum, are expected to receive torrential rain until Tuesday morning. Additional areas like Purba Bardhaman, Murshidabad, Nadia, and others are also likely to experience significant downpours.

In northern West Bengal, districts such as Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri, among others, are forecast to experience heavy rainfall till July 31. Meanwhile, precipitation is anticipated to escalate in these regions from August 2 onwards. As of the latest readings, Darjeeling has recorded the highest rainfall at 100 mm.
