Iona Storms Forward: Pacific Hurricane Intensifies

In the central Pacific Ocean, Hurricane Iona has quickly intensified, according to meteorologists. On Monday morning, Iona achieved hurricane status with sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour, classifying it as a Category 1 storm.

Currently, the storm's center is located 1,440 kilometers southeast of Honolulu, prompting no watches or warnings since it remains far from land.

However, forecasters predict that Iona will strengthen further in the coming days before beginning to weaken by mid-week.
