Delhi Drenched: Traffic Chaos as 'Red Alert' Issued

Heavy rainfall unleashed chaos in the national capital on Tuesday, prompting a 'red alert' and severe traffic snarls due to extensive waterlogging. Key areas, including ITO, Nehru Place, and Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, faced significant disruptions, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of more showers to come.

Between 8.30 am and 11.30 am, Delhi's main weather station at Safdarjung recorded 63.5 mm of rain, while other stations, including Ridge, Ayanagar, and Lodhi Road, indicated varying amounts. Traffic police issued advisories to avoid heavily affected stretches and recommended alternative routes for commuters.

The city's air quality remained satisfactory, with an AQI of 87, despite the downpour. The weather department noted a minor dip in temperature, while anticipating moderate to heavy rains, lightning, and gusty winds throughout the day.
