In a shocking wildlife incident, a leopard attacked a woman named Geeta Devi in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, leaving her with serious injuries to her face. The unfortunate encounter occurred around 5 am as Devi was near her home, plucking flowers.
Residents and officials were initially misled to believe the attack was by a dog until surveillance footage from a nearby building, shared by a family friend, identified the real culprit as a leopard prowling in the early hours.
Local authorities, led by District Forest Officer Vikas Yadav, are urging the community to exercise caution and stay indoors as efforts to locate and capture the leopard intensify. The animal had also reportedly tried to attack a goat in the area.
