The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) is actively working on finalizing the tender process for a new maintenance contract for air quality monitoring stations. The conclusion is anticipated in the coming weeks, according to board officials.
With the lapse of the previous maintenance contract by April, all 29 air quality monitoring stations in Haryana have been offline. This delay was due to initial attempts at contract allocation resulting in only one qualifying bid, which did not meet the government's requisite competitive standards requiring multiple bids.
Member Secretary Pradeep Dagar assured that both manual and automated stations would continue to provide crucial data once the contract is finalized. The authorities are aiming to complete this process before pollution levels rise in October-November. The data is crucial for issuing daily pollution bulletins by both state and central boards.
