Heavy rainfall in Delhi on Tuesday morning led to severe waterlogging across vital commercial hubs like Connaught Place, Sadar Bazar, and Chandni Chowk. The resulting chaos severely hampered business operations in these bustling areas.
According to the Federation of Sadar Bazar Trades Association, water levels rose to three to four feet in several districts, making navigation challenging for pedestrians. The association's chairman, Paramjit Singh Pamma, noted that the outdated drainage system exacerbated the flooding situation, leaving the area waterlogged for hours.
Additionally, the New Delhi Traders Association reported electricity outages in Sadar Bazar due to flooding, further hindering activities. Despite multiple complaints to the Delhi Jal Board and Municipal Corporation, residents allege that infrastructure failures have persisted unabated.
