The Kamchatka Peninsula experienced its strongest earthquake since 1952 on Wednesday, causing perilous tsunami waves along the coastline. According to the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the seismic event was of extraordinary magnitude.
The agency issued a caution via Telegram, warning that intense aftershocks, some possibly reaching magnitudes up to 7.5, should be anticipated. This seismic activity could persist for at least another month, presenting ongoing risks to the region.
