Heavy rains have triggered widespread flooding in parts of Rajasthan, notably affecting the Sawai Madhopur district. Key transport routes, including road and rail connectivity to Madhya Pradesh, have been severely disrupted, officials reported on Wednesday.

In Sawai Madhopur, intense rainfall since Tuesday night submerged several areas, inundated railway tracks, and washed away a section of National Highway 552. Additionally, a surge in the Parvati river near Etawah disrupted the connectivity between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, halting vehicular movement on State Highway 70.

The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur issued a 'red alert' for six districts, including Kota and Jhalawar, citing the risk of extremely heavy rainfall. Consequently, schools in 15 districts were closed, while Khandar in Sawai Madhopur recorded a significant rainfall of 230 mm.
