Despite the cancellation, officials warn that risks remain. The regional Emergency Ministry in Kamchatka indicates that aftershocks reaching magnitudes as high as 7.5 are anticipated.
Additional tsunamis could occur in Avacha Bay, the location of the regional capital, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, according to scientists' projections.
