In the Hafizganj area, a leopard that had evaded capture for nearly a month was finally trapped, bringing relief to the local community, according to forest officials.
Divisional Forest Officer Diksha Bhandari confirmed that the leopard was captured in a cage at the closed Khaitan factory near Faizullapur village, lured by a live chicken used as bait.
The forest department will oversee the animal until it is released into the forests of Uttarakhand, following necessary legal procedures. The big cat's presence had significantly disrupted local activities, including farming and schooling, which resumed normalcy after its capture.
