A flash flood hit Nepal's Bhotekoshi river early Wednesday, blocking the Syabrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road in Rasuwa district once more. Officials reported heavy rainfall on the Chinese side triggered the surge, leading to the road's closure while thankfully causing no casualties.
According to the Rasuwa Traffic Police, multiple sections of the road have been swept away. Previously, on July 8, the river had washed away nearly a kilometer of the road, stalling travel along the 16-kilometer stretch. Although one-way traffic was restored by July 20, the route is now entirely impassable again.
Authorities have issued warnings for residents in low-lying areas since the river's water level began rising around 2 am. The flood has also caused damage to infrastructure such as a weighing station at the Timure customs yard and ongoing road construction near the Rasuwagadhi border, where Chinese officials were set to install a Bailey bridge.
