Heavy rainfall pounded various regions of Rajasthan on Thursday, resulting in the swelling of significant rivers like Chambal and Parvati, surpassing the danger mark, according to officials. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning predicting continued intense rain over the next 48 hours.
The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur noted that a circulation system has developed over southwestern Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas of eastern Rajasthan. This has led to forecasts of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Shekhawati region of Jaipur division and parts of Bikaner division, with moderate to heavy showers expected in Ajmer, Kota, and Bharatpur divisions.
In response to the situation, Rajasthan's disaster management and relief department is ramping up preparedness efforts. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in vulnerable districts like Kota and Dholpur. Authorities are advising residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to exercise caution as they monitor water levels in dams and reservoirs.
