Gurugram faced severe disruption on Thursday as torrential rains led to extensive waterlogging, resulting in a near-flood-like situation across the city. Major roads, including those in areas like Narsinghpur and Subhash Chowk, were heavily affected, with water levels rising significantly, causing vehicles to become stranded and impeding commuter movement.
Reports indicated that the rains disrupted vehicular movement across key locations such as the old Gurugram-Delhi road and Sohna Road. Traffic police, despite being caught in the downpour, worked diligently to manage the situation. The district administration, alongside the Municipal Corporation and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, focused on immediate drainage, alleviating waterlogged areas swiftly.
The district recorded 66 mm of rainfall, with some areas experiencing as much as 122 mm. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini acknowledged the challenges faced by the city, emphasizing efforts to enhance its infrastructure and decrease water stagnation time. The commitment to transforming Gurugram into a globally recognized city remains robust, according to Saini.
