The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'red' alert for Arunachal Pradesh on August 3, warning of extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning across various districts.
An 'orange' alert has preceded this on August 2, indicating very heavy rain expectations in several regions. According to IMD forecasts, some districts, including Papum Pare, Lohit, and Anjaw, may receive more than 20 cm of rainfall on August 3.
Authorities have urged residents in low-lying and landslide-prone areas to remain vigilant. Expected outcomes include potential traffic disruptions, power outages, and local hazards such as landslides and flash floods.
