Commuters in Delhi will soon see relief from persistent traffic, as the central government has greenlit the completion of Underpass No 5, a vital part of the Pragati Maidan transit corridor.

The Bhairon Marg underpass had faced delays for over two years, owing to technical issues. However, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has now approved a revised plan from Delhi's Public Works Department.

Challenges arose after flooding from the Yamuna River led to subsidence of precast concrete boxes. The revised design now limits the underpass to light vehicles and downsizes it to two lanes.
