Heavy rainfall in Gurugram on Monday evening wreaked havoc, causing significant power outages, severe waterlogging, and extensive traffic jams. The chaos extended to major thoroughfares, including the Delhi-Jaipur highway.
Authorities, including the traffic police, were observed working hard to alleviate the congestion caused by the downpour. However, despite considerable financial investments in infrastructure, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) have fallen short in managing drainage effectively, as expressed by frustrated residents like Arjun Goyal, a law student caught in the jam.
While a senior traffic police officer assured continued efforts to maintain smooth traffic flow, the persistent problem of waterlogging underscores the need for a robust overhaul of existing urban management systems.
