A tragic incident unfolded in Pune city as a labourer lost his life while three others were rescued when a mound of soil collapsed during an excavation for a pipeline project on Monday evening, according to police reports.

Four labourers were trapped in the accident outside the retaining wall of the Nanded City gated township, located in the Sinhgad Road area. The fire department, notified of the emergency, quickly responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, the PMRDA (Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority) fire brigade promptly initiated a rescue operation, successfully rescuing three of the trapped labourers from the soil mound. Tragically, one labourer could not be saved. Those rescued were immediately given oxygen support and transported to the hospital for further treatment. The pipeline excavation was part of the city's River Front Development Project.
