Devastating Floods in Uttarakhand: A Rescue Operation in the Himalayas
Sudden flooding and landslides have struck Uttarakhand, India, causing four deaths and leaving many missing. Rescue operations are challenged by blocked roads and adverse weather. Communication lines are down, and eleven army personnel are missing. Efforts are ongoing with additional resources being deployed to the area.

In the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, heavy rains have triggered severe flooding and landslides, claiming four lives and leaving dozens unaccounted for. Rescue operations by army and disaster teams are currently underway despite being hindered by blocked roads and continuing rainfall.
The situation is further complicated by the collapse of mobile and electricity towers, forcing authorities to equip rescue workers with satellite phones. Reports indicate that eleven army personnel are missing as a result of flash floods that have also impacted the army camp in Harsil.
Efforts continue to rescue trapped individuals, with approximately 130 people evacuated by Tuesday night. Army supplies are ready to be deployed to the affected regions, where experts suggest such extreme weather events are influenced by climate change.
