Helicopter Rescues in Uttarakhand Amid Sudden Floods
Rescuers in Uttarakhand used helicopters to rescue people trapped by floodwaters. While the state continues to grapple with the aftermath of landslides that killed four and left many missing, attempts to reconnect communication networks are ongoing. Authorities strive to prevent further casualties as they rescue hundreds.

In Uttarakhand, helicopters have become lifelines as rescuers pluck to safety individuals stranded by sudden floodwaters. The Himalayas, usually a serene backdrop, transformed into a perilous stage Tuesday, with four confirmed dead and dozens still missing in the aftermath of landslides and floods.
With favorable weather conditions allowing, helicopters ferried those isolated by this natural disaster, as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed. A major airlift operation is underway, with over 400 people, including army personnel, targeted for rescue in Gangotri, a prominent Hindu pilgrimage site.
Communication remains a challenge, with essential infrastructure washed away. As the torrents render roads impassable, military and local rescuers work against time, shifting boulders and clearing paths to assist the stranded. The recurrent nature of such disasters highlights the impacts of climate change on the region.
