A seven-year-old boy tragically lost his life after falling into an open drain in northeast Delhi's Welcome area while pursuing a kite. The incident took place on Friday evening near Lakdi Market Puliya. The boy, whose identity remains undisclosed, slipped in his attempt to capture the kite.

The search-and-rescue operation, initially launched on Friday evening, faced suspension due to darkness. Efforts resumed early Saturday with increased manpower and equipment. Local divers and fire department personnel participated in the operation, coordinated by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).

Following the recovery of the boy's body on Saturday morning, it was sent to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for a post-mortem. Officials are providing support to the grieving family and have initiated further investigations into the matter.
