In the aftermath of devastating floods, efforts to restore normalcy in Dharali and Harsil are underway. Repair work on the Gangotri National Highway progresses, with workers diligently draining a temporary lake formed in the Bhagirathi river. Encouraging signs include the receding water levels, revealing submerged roads and infrastructure.
Road connectivity remains critical, necessitating the transport of essential supplies like LPG cylinders by foot and vehicle. Community kitchens and medical camps operate to support affected residents. Repair of a 600-meter stretch of the Gangotri National Highway by PWD and BRO teams is ongoing.
