The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday for spearheading the Urban Extension Road (UER) II project, poised to become a cornerstone of the 'Viksit Delhi' vision. Gupta, together with BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and MP Yogender Chandolia, surveyed the launch site at Rohini Sector 37, in anticipation of the road's inauguration by the prime minister on Sunday.

Describing UER-II as a 'historic gift' to Delhi, Gupta emphasized its transformative impact on the city, particularly in easing traffic congestion, reducing travel time, and improving overall connectivity within the National Capital Region (NCR). The road, which stretches from National Highway-44 to National Highway-48, promises to cut travel time substantially, notably reducing the journey from the Singhu border to the Indira Gandhi International Airport to just 40 minutes.

The UER-II is expected to alleviate pressure on key routes like the Inner and Outer Ring Roads while enhancing industrial linkages between significant hubs such as Sonipat and Bahadurgarh. Gupta also highlighted the environmental benefits, citing potential reductions in fuel consumption and emissions, as well as the project's vital role in integrating Delhi with broader national highways, underscoring its economic and logistical significance for the region.
