The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded alarms across Telangana, forecasting severe rainfall affecting multiple districts until August 20.
A 'red alert', indicating extreme weather conditions with rainfall expected to surpass 20 cm in just a day, is in place from August 18 to August 19 for Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Mahabubabad districts. The IMD also cautioned about potential thunderstorms paired with gusty winds and lightning, which could persist until August 22.
The ongoing deluge has wrought havoc in various parts of Telangana, triggering massive waterlogging, flooding of low-lying areas, and the swelling of local water bodies. These conditions have severely impacted road connectivity between villages, according to local sources.
